Cover Reveal by M. Clarke aka Mary Ting...me :)

Something Great is my debut New Adult Romance, pub July 24, 2013

 * This is a New Adult romance novel recommended for ages 17+ due to sexual content and mature subject matter. *

She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her.

Maxwell Knight was positively trouble, dangerously good-looking, and seductively charming. He was everything Jenna didn’t need in her life. Only Max didn’t see it that way. His pursuit was relentless, making Jenna even more determined to push him away. All she wanted was security, a career, and love that was everlasting.

Fresh out of college, life was simple and plain for Jeanella Mefferd, but she liked it that way. Every part of her life was smooth sailing; her friends, her job, and even the guy she’d started dating. Then one night, while at dinner with her best friend, she spotted someone who made her feel things she’d never felt before just by his mere presence—dangerous, heart pounding, breathless heat. Thinking she would never see him again, she brushed it off, but when she started to run into him unexpectedly, all she could think of was how he made her feel with his sweet flirtations. Everything about Maxwell Knight screamed trouble, especially when she found out he was her new boss’s son. Now, heading to a New York fashion show she’d dreamt about since she was a child, would she be able to focus on her career instead of Max, who had been scheduled to attend with her? As much as she tried to forget their encounters, his good looks, charm, smooth words, and determination to win her over gravitated her toward him. The next thing she knew, he was utterly consuming her, mind and body, and in places she’d never thought possible. Would she be willing to step over the boundary and risk her safety net? Was she willing to take advice from her best friend and love hard and risk getting hurther than really love at all and possibly miss out on finding something great?

Welcome Author Shelly Crane

Expected Publication Summer, 2013

Blurb:
Jude has spent the whole twenty one years of his life running. From what, he wasn't quite sure. His mother tried to keep him safe; a low profile, a constant move on the horizon, a week's pay always stashed away. She tried to instill in him that he was special somehow, though would never elaborate. He never felt different. He was so completely normal and vanilla that he wondered if it had all been in her head. But then she was murdered and all he saw was a running silhouette of a man as his mother said three final words to him. Three words that changed his whole being.
          Never stop running…
Now he's semi-settled into a big town. The college is huge and easy to blend into. It's been three months since he had to move because 'Biloxi', as he calls the man who killed his mother, found him once more.
Then Marley, an eighteen year old girl who is as infuriating as she is blissfully ignorant of her gorgeousness, smashes into his car with hers. Then smashes into his life as he realizes that whatever it is he has that Biloxi wants, she has it, too. And now, they're after them both.

Excerpt:

And now, as I stared out into the dark rain to see a POS car sideways in the road, I knew the world hated me, had to, because someone had just smashed her car into my truck.

I got out and braced myself. It wasn't easy to pay cash for new cars every time I needed to skip town. It was hard living when you couldn't be who you really were. Finding people to pay you under the table was almost impossible these days.

I groaned and glared at the beauty standing at the end of my truck. "Look at that!"

"I'm so sorry," she began. I could tell she really was, but I was beyond pissed. "I'll call my insurance company right now."

That stopped me. "No!" I shouted and she jolted at the verbal assault. "No insurance."

"Well," she pondered, "what do you mean? I have good insurance."

         "But I don't."

She turned her head a bit in thought and then her mouth fell open as she realized what I was saying. "You don’t have any insurance, do you?"

"No," I answered. "Look. Whatever, we'll just call this even-steven, because you did hit me."

"Even-steven my butt!" she yelled and scurried to jump in front of me, blocking my way.

"And what a cute butt it is."

Even through the noise of water hitting metal, I heard her intake of breath. The rain pelted us in the dark. I hoped no one came around the corner. It would be hard for them to see us here in the middle of the road. She might get hurt. Then I wondered why I cared.

"Look, buddy," she replied and crossed her arms. It drew my eyes to her shirt. My eyes bulged 'cause that shirt…well, it was see-through now. She caught on and jerked her crossed arms higher. "How dare you! You're on a roll in the jerkface department, you know that!"

"My specialty," I said and saluted as I climbed in my truck. "Get your pretty butt in your car and let's pretend this never happened, shall we?"

Because if cops and insurance were brought into this, I'd be on the run sooner than I thought.

         She huffed. "Excuse me-"

"Darling. Car. Now." She glared. "Like right now."

She threw her hands up in the air and yelled, "I knew chivalry was dead!" before climbing in her car and driving away. She didn't know it, but I was being as chivalrous as they come. I made sure she got out of the rain and back into her car, even though she didn't like the way I did it, and I got her as far away from me as I could.

In my book, I deserved a freaking medal for being so chivalrous. Because people that stuck with me didn't live long.

         Just ask my mom.

Oh, wait, you can't. She died long, long years ago saving my life. I refused to bring anyone onto this sinking ship with me. If it finally did go down, I was going down alone.

Joann H. Buchanan
I love to laugh and spend time with my family and friends. My dream is to make a living being a novelist. I can't wait to see what the days ahead have to offer. I feel like I have been blessed in many ways, however winning the lotto isn't one of them...
I'm always searching for ways to bring more balance with my life, and to be honest I probably rarely succeed, because it is all so chaotic. I love my life though because it is full of laughter and fun. I will keep searching for the unexpected everyday things that make my life worth living...
I'm a writer...I'm sure there are tons of those out there. What better thing to do in life than to create something for nothing. I live by a few mottos, Make it work is one of them. I was saying that looong before Tim Gunn made it famous. The other thing I live by is, "Above all else, entertain." That's what an author does. If I haven't entertained you, then I haven't done my job.
The love of the written word is like a drug. A single thought can turn into miles across the ocean or a night in bed with someone you love. They are the very essence of my soul; I breathe them in everyday just to live. My heroes aren't the people who are rich and famous. They are the ones who aren't afraid to tattoo my heart with the words they write. The shadows between the pages are the undiscovered worlds and minds of the person who writes them.

Welcome Author A.B.Whelan

1. What was the craziest thing you have ever done?
I have done a couple, but I guess the craziest one was when my husband asked me to move with him to Ecuador and I said yes. We’d been dating only for three months when the American base closed in Hungary and he went to work in Kuwait. After a three-month, long-distance relationship he quit his job and came back for me. In the next month I sold both of my retail stores, quit my job as a marketing director at a shopping mall, bid farewell to my family and friends, and left my country with him. We are still married with two beautiful children.

2. What impact does a bad review have on you?
I don’t pay much attention to one-star reviews. Most of the time the reviewer is just jealous and hateful, probably because he/she never had the discipline or talent to write a book, and bringing down those who have gives her some sort of satisfaction. My favorites are the ones who criticize my grammar in my 117,000-word novel (which by the way was edited by an English professor), while she herself can’t even write a short review without errors. However, I analyze all the other constructive reviews and try to learn from them and get better.

3. How would you describe your protagonist?
Molly is well-grounded, kind, shy, and falls in love too fast; nevertheless, when the situation calls for physical and mental strength she doesn’t disappoint.

4. What is your dream for yourself as an author? I would love to become traditionally published by a major publishing company. The thought of walking into a Barnes & Noble bookstore and seeing my book in someone’s shopping basket is very pleasing to me.

5. Do you believe in love at first sight? I believe in instant, strong attraction between two people and, if the relationship works out, the couple will call it love at first sight; if it doesn’t work out they’ll call it a moment of insanity.

6. Do you have a favorite author? Why is he or she your favorite author? I love J.K.Rowling for her incomparable imagination, David Gemmell for his characters and world building, Charlotte Bronte for her extraordinary grasp of the English language.

7. What inspired you to write Fields of Elysium? I’ve always been fascinated by the universe, the possibility of life on other planets, God’s existence; but sitting with my husband on our balcony in Crete and staring at the night sky triggered a few ideas. I imagined a peaceful world where there are no wars and murders, and what would happen to that world if people from Earth ever found it.

8. If you could have only one wish, what would it be? A magic wand.

9. What was your most embarrassing moment in life?
I had a few of those, too. J The one I like to tell and laugh about is when our first day in Ecuador (my husband and I lived there for six months), I locked myself out of a condo wearing only a bra and my hubby’s boxer shorts. The building security guy took me to a family for help. The wife drove me through the scariest and poorest part of the town to fetch a locksmith, but because I didn’t speak Spanish, I had no idea what was going on. At some point I thought I was going to be sold into prostitution. By the time we got back to the condo my husband’s friend came to check on me. When I stood in front of all those people in my underwear, I just wanted to die of embarrassment.

10. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
 Into space.

11. If you could go back in time and change something in your past what would it be and why? I would go back to when I was about ten years old so I could start keeping a diary. I’d pay anything now to read my younger self’s thoughts.

12. Now that you read criticisms about your work, do you wish you could rewrite it and start over or not and why?
The story seemed to please and I’m very satisfied with it, so, no, I wouldn’t rewrite it; however, I can’t stop revising my writing. I do it over and over again. Change a word or delete a sentence here and there.

13. Can readers expect more books from you in the future?
Valley of Darkness Part 1 (Fields of Elysium, #2) will be published in May and Part 2 later in the summer. And the story will continue with two more volumes: City of Shame and Return to Innocence. I’m also writing a new YA novel, This Diary Belongs To Estee Morgan. And I have about ten more book ideas waiting for their turn.

SYNOPSIS: How can love mend a heart full of hate? Small town girl, Molly Bennett, moves to Los Angeles where she becomes an outsider while attending Beverly Hills High School. It seems life cannot be any more dreadful. Then one day after school, something magical happens. On a secluded hike in the Hollywood Hills, Molly chases her disobedient mutt and only friend into a hidden cavern. She stumbles upon a strange glimmering gateway that transports her to Arkana, a planet that is the cradle of an advanced human race. There, teenagers navigate amazing flying vehicles, compete in hazardous games, and some even possess supernatural powers. While Molly tries to wrap her mind around this unbelievable discovery, she meets the alluring and mysterious Victor Sorren. He is a Sentinel Apprentice, whose hatred toward people from Earth seems irreversible. Yet every time Victor unpredictably saves Molly's life, his heart draws closer to hers, no matter how much he tries to fight against it. It further complicates things that their growing friendship is strictly forbidden. Earth people are prohibited in Arkana, yet Molly continues to cross through the portal to Arkana to see Victor. Torn between their double lives, they go down a dangerous path, from where there is no return and multiple endings. Fields of Elysium is a highly romantic and suspenseful tale filled with secrets, dangerous encounters and unexpected turns.
