Something Wonderful, book 2 of Something Great Teaser

Teaser from Matthew and Becky's conversation.

“Hello, Be…caaa.” He dragged the last sound of my name out as if it was the ending of a song. Leaning toward me, he crossed his arms on the table, and checked me out. I wore a form fitted black sweatsuit from Victoria's Secret, and my hair was tied in a high ponytail.
Feeling his eyes practically undressing me, and irate that he called me by the wrong name, I spoke out. “I don’t know who you have confused me with, but I’m not Becca. My name is Becky,” I scowled.
“Don’t worry. I remember your name, and I never forget a pretty face. I just like to call you Becca. It’s cute. It has a nice ring to it.”
“Then don’t expect me to answer when you call me by that name.” Did he say I was pretty?
Matthew ignored my last comment, reached over to grab my cup, and took a long whiff. “Hazelnut… such a girly drink.” Then he placed it down and took a sip of his. Watching him made me thirsty, so I took one too. “Becca, what are you doing?” His eyes burned through the computer screen…actually through me.
“None of you business,” I snapped lightly so he would get the point that I didn’t want to be bothered.
Matthew beamed a mischievous grin that caused all sorts of funny flips in my stomach. He was simply gorgeous. “I made you answer when I called you Becca.”
Grrr! He was right; I did. Knowing he had the upper hand right now, I changed the subject. “Do you mind? I have work to do. Some of us actually have to work.”
He didn’t like that reply. I could tell by his eyebrows narrowing together, pinching in the center. A part of me felt bad. I shouldn’t have said that, but then again, that’s what he got for being an ass…a hot ass, though.
“You shouldn’t read so much on the computer screen. It’s not good for your eyes.” Matthew leaned back into his chair; spreading his long legs, while his eyes continued to be fixated on me.
Not knowing how to respond to his question, I decided not to answer him, and shifted my eyes back to the screen. I’d hoped he would get the point that I wasn’t in a talking mood. Actually, my nerves were unsteady and I didn’t know what to say. But he kept right on rolling with whatever he thought this was. Matthew tapping my shoes with his made me look up at him.   “You didn’t answer me,” he said, giving me that sly grin.
I pulled my legs back so he couldn’t touch me again. “Why don’t you talk to those ladies behind you instead? I’m sure they have nothing better to do. Go bug them.” I pointed to the table where the group of women sat. Their eyes never left him, and I could tell they were honing in on our conversation.
Matthew didn’t even bother to look in the direction I pointed. He didn’t seem interested at all.
“I’d rather stay here. I think you like me here too.” He took a big gulp of his drink, and then slowly licked at some that escaped with a long stroke of his tongue.
Watching him made me quiver… EVERYWHERE.  My face became as hot as my drink; and…I wanted to be the cup he just licked. “Fine. Suit yourself. I’m not going to talk to you.” My eyes went straight to my laptop, but I was dying to ask him a question. “Why are you even here? You don’t live near here.”
“I thought you weren’t talking to me?” he smirked, but he continued. “Max asked me to stop by your place. I need to bring some files over. We have some business to discuss.” He leaned over. “I actually work for living too, in case you didn’t know. But I also like to have lots of fun. I could show you what I mean someday.”
I just stared at him as my jaw dropped. Show me what fun meant? I don’t need for him to show me. I invented the word…well…not really, someone else did, but no way would I allow this arrogant jerk to show me what that meant. “I don’t think so,” I replied with a sting of attitude.
Without a comeback, Matthew stood up, shifted his baseball cap and quietly pushed his chair back in while I watched his every move without trying to make it obvious. “Well…gotta run. Duty calls. Have a nice day.”
“How long will you be in my apartment,” I asked casually.
“Couple of hours, I suppose. Why? Would you like me to stay longer?”
“No…I just wanted to calculate how long I needed to be here so I don’t run into you again,” I said in monotone, with a twitch of a brow—playful yet serious.
He let out a chuckle. “Well…that’s a first.”
What did he mean by that? When I thought he was out the door, I inhaled a deep breath. He was taking my oxygen and I didn’t even know it. That thief. He even took a piece of me with him, but I didn’t know what it was. All I knew was that I kinda missed his presence and our awkward, not-so-friendly conversation.
I was just about to click to read a query letter when I saw a shadow looming over me, getting smaller. “Looks like an important document. I like what you’re reading. The file must be called the blank screen,” he whispered in my ear. His hot breath brushed against the side of my neck and heat rushed to the core of my being, making me dissolve into the chair. I didn’t want him to stop.
When he opened the door, the cool draft took his warmth away. I was upset at myself; now he knew I had nothing on my screen. Now he knew I was too nervous around him to even think of work. That was just freakin great!

Synopsis:
Did you just see a flash of lightning across the sky on a clear sunny day? It’s not from Mother Nature. It is most likely from Mason Grand, swoon-worthy demigod, one of Zeus’s descendants.

Skylar Rome is supposed to be having the best summer ever before she heads off to college. Little did she know, her whole life was about to change while visiting her cousin. Nearly drowning at the beach due to unknown forces, one of the Grand brothers she’d just met, Mason, saves her life. Cool, collected, mysterious, and dangerously good-looking, Skylar is drawn to him from the start. Though she knows he is the type of guy good girls stayed away from, it seems he is always saving her life, and the attraction was inevitable.

Upon meeting the brothers, strange things begin to happen. When she accidentally kills one of the brothers, it throws her life into turmoil, as they search to find the answers. Implausibly, she gets caught up in a world of the descendants of ancient gods, all who have super powers. Not only is her discovery difficult to accept, evil beings are after her. Running out of time and running for her life, she must unravel a mystery. What do they want from her? Forced into a battle set into motion long before she was born, will she find the answers, or will she die trying?

Teaser:
“Mason, Mason, Mason,” Skylar panicked.
“I know. Skylar, hold on tight. I’m going to brake.”
“But…but there are cars behind us.”
“We have no choice. Don’t worry. I got this.” Pushing down on the brake pedal forcefully, the car hydroplaned to the right. “Hold on,” Mason yelled. Skylar gripped the first thing she could place her hand on tightly. The water from the road jetted up into the air like a water show, but the car kept gliding sideways, until finally it spun a full circle and stopped. With no time to waste, Mason turned the car toward the right and accelerated, hoping to dodge what was coming toward them.
Out of nowhere, a long piece of ice, taking the form of a spear-like shape, darted through the trucks’ tires and punctured some of them. More ice spears came soaring out of the rain, but this time, ten or more sphere like ice balls followed, denting the sides of the trucks, and one went through a windshield. With flat tires, the trucks now glided as if on ice, maneuvering from side to side.
“Did you do that?” Skylar asked excitedly.
“No…must be Poseidon’s kids. Where the hell are they?” Mason spread his right arm in front of Skylar, as if to protect her. “Bend down, Sky.”
One of the trucks hit another and swirled, hitting the other adjacent to it. The crash caused the trucks to flip and tumble, heading straight for Mason’s car. With a look of shock, Skylar held her breath. With no time to move, think, or get out of the car, she closed her eyes and prepared for the crash.

Just seconds before the impact, Mason’s car flew up into the air, over the trucks. Somehow, magically, the water created a liquid bridge, guiding the car safely over, and then it thumped hard on the ground on the other side. Without looking back, Mason sped away as the sound of screeching brakes and metal impacting on metal blasted behind them.

From Gods is live everywhere!!!

Here is a teaser: Unexpectedly, she felt arms cuddling her, carrying her out the door. Immediately, she knew it was him. Being in Mason’s arms made her speechless, and she didn’t want to move a muscle. He laid her down on a wooden bench and bent down on his knee.
Skylar held her eyes closed, but opened them slowly when he brushed the strands of her hair away from her face. Afterward, surprisingly, when his hand slid down tenderly to her cheek, she felt a slight tingling sensation around the area that he touched. Whatever it was that she felt definitely came from him. It was like something between a mild shock and heat, but it wasn’t painful; in fact, it felt pleasurable and soothing, and she didn’t understand how he was doing it.
Peering up, she caught his eyes as they held hers, through space, through time, through her soul. Sparks flew and some kind of connection Skylar didn’t understand erupted through her. Though she didn’t want this feeling, she had no other choice, for her heart longed to know him even more.
Mason blinked his eyes, looking frazzled and concerned. “Are you okay?” His tone was softer than usual. Anchoring her trembling hands on the bench, she raised herself up and rested her back against the wall
